Note: if you use the wrong SD card it can freeze up your unit too, so make sure to use the stock one or a sandisk extreme pro w proper specs - Ģ)File management of samples on SD card &/or external drives

But if the folders are not organized properly or tagged or something (?) everything gets sluggish when browsing for samples - I have not tried reorganizing everything (~1tb of sample libraries - loops and oneshots) this is because all my samples are already preorganized on my external drive and it would be super tedious to reorganize all my samples and I don't know which is the best way to do this for Maschine ANYWAYS - so I am not going to waste my effort on reorganzing everything until I understand the proper way to organize samples for Maschine to run smooth because I could reorganize all my samples just to have it not work again because there is no advice from NI that I have seen on how to organize larger collections so they work properly and are optimized for the Maschine OS, so NI how do you organzie larger sample collections to work smoothly with Maschine+ either on the SD or external drive? I am also guessing that if you load smaller folders of user samples it can run smoothly too (?), please tell me about your experience if you have a smooth experience with your user samples and how you set up the folders so it runs smoothly.

Solution: The stock card works fine, but is slower w/samples and Sandisk extreme pro cards work and are faster w/samplesĪssuming you just download maschine expansions ONLY and don't use your own user sample libraries your maschine+ should run smoothly, assuming your sample libraries are like mine - maybe a collection you have already organized on an external drive of 100GB to 1TB of content.

Problem: Maschine+ freezes or becomes sluggish due to the type of SD card you are using.Of course you can make great stuff just with the expansions, but then whats the point of even having the user folder in the browser if all you can use, functionally, is the Maschine expansions? I also may do a factory reset to reset the Ram or maybe reformat my SD card, because specific files are not disappearing from the user directory in the browser - even though the SD is different, and my external drive is no longer plugged in. The expansions are great, but when you buy a sampler you want and NEED to be able to use your own samples, thats a bigger part of the fun. I am going to just use the Maschine expansions ONLY w/extreme pro SD and forego entirely using my own user samples and an external drive - which is a total bummer - until I figure out how to use my own samples in a smooth and stable way with the Maschine. How I feel about using the Maschine+ as I am writing this: I am just being real with my thoughts about my experience and frustrations and trying to find solutions/create a discussion about this. I am also not trying to dog NI or Maschine, both are great. And I am not claiming its not possible to use user samples, just that I haven't found a way yet to use my own samples libraries in a smooth fashion where Maschine runs in a normal speed and is stable and not sluggish to the point of becoming unusable. I love the workflow, BUT I am bummed with having so many issues w/using my user samples which is something I was real excited about when I first decided to purchase it. I will say Maschine+ is a great instrument.

Since I can't find solutions in the manual that is why I am opening up the discussion here.

It is possible I could have missed something or did not recall/understand something I read, let me know if you have references in the manual to check out to solve any of these issues. I did read the manual in its entirety recently and considering all of the problems below I do not remember seeing any specific solutions to some to these in the manual. The whole crux of the problems revolve around the Maschine OS and how it interacts with user samples/files on external drives and the SD card.

I just purchased the plus and I want to be real about some of the problems I have encountered. The Long version (prob nobody wants to read this, I get it, but I explain a lot more the issues broken down and my experience, but I do think someone from Native Instruments should read this):
